TJM Towbar Failure and how I fixed it.
TJM Towbar failed. This is how I fixed the excessive play between the tow hitch and the tower. The excessive movement put enormous stress on the poorly welded locking bolt nut which broke away.
The Deteriorating Quality of TJM Products: A Critical Analysis
Introduction: TJM, renowned for its off-road accessories, has long been a trusted name among enthusiasts seeking reliable equipment for their adventures. However, recent observations suggest a troubling trend in the quality of TJM products, particularly evident in the welds on their bullbars and tow bars. This essay delves into the implications of this deterioration and raises questions regarding TJM's quality control measures to meet ADR requirements.
Deteriorating Quality: The cornerstone of TJM's reputation has been its commitment to durability and reliability. However, reports from consumers and industry experts highlight instances of subpar welds on TJM bullbars and tow bars. Porosity, a common defect, weakens the integrity of welds, compromising the safety and performance of these crucial components. Such flaws not only diminish the aesthetic appeal but also raise concerns about structural integrity, especially in demanding off-road conditions.
Implications: The consequences of compromised welds extend beyond mere cosmetic defects. In the context of bullbars and tow bars, which serve as crucial safety features, any compromise in structural integrity poses a significant risk to both vehicle occupants and other road users. Instances of weld failure can lead to catastrophic outcomes, including accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. Moreover, the erosion of trust in TJM's products among consumers and enthusiasts could have far-reaching implications for the company's reputation and market standing.
Quality Control Measures: Given the stakes involved, one would expect TJM to employ rigorous quality control measures to ensure compliance with ADR requirements and uphold its commitment to safety and reliability. However, the prevalence of weld defects suggests shortcomings in TJM's quality assurance processes. Questions arise regarding the adequacy of weld inspections, the qualifications of personnel performing these tasks, and the efficacy of corrective actions taken in response to identified defects.

You also need to release the parking brake on international trucks
RIP Dennis. I first met him in early 70s when my 237 was playing up and the heads had to be removed as the valves were sticking. Dennis told me he had the same problem with a few of his Mack’s. He told me it was due to the oil I was using in the engine, then said use my workshop and tools to do the job. We’re both about the same vintage and sad to hear his passing. Steve L
How can you use different key to start
Mack is so nostalgic
Mine worked
Loving the BR12 shirt I am nearly 60 years old and have never heard the word bitumen had to look it up on google.
It’s nice to comeback and remember all the nostalgic moments when I used to enjoy this beautiful trucks back when I was a kid in dads phone, even tho it has been almost 8 years every time i find this video I feel like a kid no matter what 🥲🥹
Not really a mirror finish, it’s shiny but it’s no mirror. I would say it needs wet sanding first to make surface smooth like glass before you can make it mirror finish?
I can get 3 gear in low mode but No down arrow, any suggestion
I'm not getting a down arrow? Any suggestions?
Hi there, do these models have anti-theft radio codes and what's the process for entering them?
Thanks I have enjoyed your teaching continue.
That H-S was also blowing black smoke : ) - it would have been nice to actually see the engine but oh well, maybe next time...
Seeing the footage of the truckies strike brought back an old riddle - "Why is Neville Wran growing a beard ?" All the old timers will know, "Its because he cant get his Razorback !" Sesame Street, what a wild show that was ! (Not the one on the telly either).
Many don't realize more the HP the transmission has to be upgraded to handle the torque. So does the rear-end.
Where did Murray go after he was mechanicing for Fraser’s in Warwick… top bloke no bullshit from him ever.
We have 1000 hp vehicle put to very good use here & on other side we 1500hp monster trucks doing stunts
I remember this
옛날에 매일 봤던 기억이
Какую же надо иметь трансмиссию чтобы всё с места сдвинуть😯😱😯
Why don't use swedish trucks instead of this dump .
Nostalgia I found it finally😍
Nostalgia
I'm bit worried about pulling out of the Greek.
I guess the drivers have to change their own flat's 😉
Why not a T950 tri drive?
My fav Mack 1:05
Internal combustion engines are all effected by dust while external combustion engines are not effected. Ted Pritchard of Melbourne designed and built a very successful external combustion engine. It was a steamer. Went to Americaandwas demonstrated to the Senators from Washington and the major motor mfrs.. It was the lowest emission engine in the world. They did not want it. Ibelieve all these mining vehicles would have been powered by steam had the company not had to shut down due to the lack of finance ThereisasreasonwhythePritchardsteamerfailedanditwaspoliticalinmyopinion.Tedwasgranted$300Ktobuildthreeengines.Thenextgovt.took$200Koffhim.Meanwhile,tomyknowledge,overseasvehiclemfrs.stillreceived$750K.and$500K.thatwebelievedwentstraightoverseas.Therewasn'tenoughmoneytotestthefirstengine.Austshareholderswerestressedout,couldtakeitnofurtherandtheprojectfinished.PreviousIhadbeentoAmericawithTed.IwenttoReno.NAandsawBillLearU.S.$10Ml.effort.Idon'tknowhowmuchtheU.S.govt.putinbutI'llbetitwasplenty.Amonkeycouldhavedonebetter.TedhadafriendDr.DavidWarren.Heinventedthefirstflightrecorder.IfIwrotewhathappenedtothatyouwouldnotbelieveme.Anybodywithbrainsgetou
Sheesh that welding looks pretty rough. Nah shouldn’t be that loose.
I had exactly the same thing happen, had to re-weld the captive nut also.. that slag is pretty ordinary :(
